This past January, Lehigh's Institute for Functional Materials and Devices (I-FMD) formally launched the "Research Experience at Lehigh (RE@L) Scholars program in partnership with Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC). This program is designed to provide direct research experience for high-performing second year students from LCCC, offering them a unique opportunity to directly participate in scientific research and better prepare them for their futures upon graduating from LCCC. The program was designed based on the successful efforts of Lehigh Chemistry graduate student Dane Santa as part of his awarded application to the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship program.
During the first year of the program, I-FMD welcomed six RE@L scholars who worked with faculty and graduate student mentors from I-FMD. The RE@L scholars recently presented their research efforts at LCCC's Arts and Scholars Showcase on April 21, 2025. During the event, Diana Grover was presented the award for Best Second Year Poster - STEM, Diana is advised by Damien Thevenin, Professor of Chemistry. Congratulations to Diana and all of I-FMD's RE@L Scholars!
