The Hitachi S-3500N, generously donated by Hitachi and located in a recently renovated WH164, is dedicated to undergraduate research and teaching. It’s a very capable general purpose SEM with the option to operate in a low vacuum mode. In addition it has a research grade Bruker X-Flash SDD EDS detector with a Quantex Analysis system for doing elemental X-ray microanalysis and mapping.
